PreS-Gr. just one. Valentine's A special day gets Gibbons' treatment--simple, generate, and illustrated with busily bright watercolors, here punctuated with lots of yellow hearts. Each spread comes down to the phrase "Valentine's Afternoon Is..., which is completed with a word or sentence that points out a distinct issue with the trip. To illustrate, "Valentine's Day of the week is... a drink and have fun of association and love" or just "Valentine cards" or "flowers" or sometimes "candy." Then perhaps each thought is elevated. Sometimes the rationales are marginally truncated; at other times, they may be a little bit of off. From what people are saying unusual, for example, to talk about St. Valentine being jailed for his religious beliefs (and named a saint) without mentioning his religion. In a similar fashion, the phrase "Everyone may get a lot of cards" feels insensitive to the plenty of toddlers who don't. Yet mostly this is really a good emergence to a getaway that children become aware of early on.
